Re: Hot Tea Please?
I have been brought up to drink a "man's cuppa tea". Put hairs on ya chest. I am serious about my tea at work and home and will force someone keep making it until it is perfect.
(1) Get a teabag (not one with string !!!)..........not sure what you have over there. All ours are hand-picked by children in India earning 1 pence a year. You can taste the sweat. Most common is PG Tips.
(2) Place the teabag in the middle of the mug (no cup or glass.............a mug !)
(3) Pour boiling water directly over the teabag, whilst gradually lifting the kettle higher and higher. Use a ladder if necessary, releases all the goodness. You should see bubbles forming.
(4) Do not leave the bag to stew (follow rule 5 asap). Leaving to stew causes the unsightly scum layer on top of tea and side of mugs.
(5) Stir the teabag clockwise and anti clockwise, creating a whirlpool effect (don't fall in at this stage........deadly).
(6) Using a spoon, squash the teabag hard against the side of the mug to get out every last ounce of tea.
(7) Remove the teabag somewhere, don't be fussy just get it out.........usually in the sink or missing the bin and leaving tea stains everywhere.
(8) Add milk carefully whilst stirring this is important as you can get the correct style of tea you prefer. Too many people put milk in first and it is as weak as gnats piss.
That is the recipe for a quick cuppa but if you really wanna a proper cup then use a tea-pot, tea leafs and a strainer. It keeps hot and very strong and you can even get a tea cosy for it and you can keep going back for more.
RR
(ps. as usual it was the British that invented making tea and as usual the world cannot follow our rules. Fatman would be arrested in England for his tea making.................)
I know I added this to another thread but..................

Re: Hot Tea Please?
ok ok i did it .....
my first time did not go so well ... as you can see from the pics i only have tea bags with a string .. never did see one with out unless i pulled it off lol ...
but the biggest part that went wrong was the tea bag ripped open when i dumped the BOILING water from so high ... i filtered out the tea grinds with a
coffee filter added my powered creamer and some sugar .... to tell you the truth it was a big differences .. the boiling water way makes the tea twice
as strong ... and more tea E than the microwave ...

Re: Hot Tea Please?
Can't believe that Fats posted a documentary on making tea
But Ok, here we go...
Propa english tee-a/
1. Acquire a teapot. This is not a saucepan, cup, mug, or other article that may or may not be fairly close. It is a TEA POT.
2. If you intend having more than 1 cup, I would suggest investing in a tea cosy. These are awesome, and not only work as a cover for a teapot, but are excellent for wrapping around your hand and hitting someone without leaving a mark.
3. Choose your tea. Earl Grey is popular, but an acquired taste. Morning tea is a bit less harsh, and a somewhat nicer taste. Breakfast tea is slightly sharp, but quite nice.
4. Boil a KETTLE of water. Ensure it is is boiling before you even think of using it. As soon as it boils, our enough into the pot to fill it between a quarter and a third full. Put the lid on, and hold the pot by the handle, with the other hand holding the lid down. Swirl so that the water warms the whole pot. As soon as the pot is warm, throw the water away, put the lid on, and cover with the tea cosy.
5. Reboil the kettle. Make sure it is boiling!!! this is essential!!
6. Take your tea, and put in one teaspoon for each person that will be drinking. Add another "for the pot". If in doubt, 3 teaspoons will give a fair cup.
7. Add the BOILING water, pouring it slowly and evenly. Fill to around 3/4 to full, and leave to stand.
8. Wait for at least 3 minutes. Up to about 5 or 6 will give a stronger tea.
9. Cover with the tea cosy.
10. Once it has stood, get a cup. If you want to be a purist, warm it in a manner similar to the pot, but this is not essential.
11. Place your cup near the pot. Pour the tea into the cup- a tea strainer is very useful to avoid too many leaves going into the cup.
12. You now have a choice. If you like milk, add it slowly. for proper tea, you want a nice dark colour, but you will learn what is your preferred taste. Stir clock and anti clockwise, until the colour is nice and even. If you like sugar, add it between milk and stirring.
13. Alternatively, use lemon. Quarter of a lemon squeezed in is about right. Do NOT use sugar i fyou are using lemon!!
14. drink the tea as soon as possible, sipping gently.
15. Enjoy, you just made tea!!!

Nice. Trek make very good bikes I am sure you will have some fun on it.............get some padded shorts !!!
Trouble is I have various bikes for different occasions and seasons. Need many tubes to cover all the wheel sizes. 4 bikes in my loft, 3 being worked on in the garden/shed and my current work bike. I don't spend thousands when buying them but pimp them up gradually. Bike theft in London is shockingly bad and getting worse. This means insurance is crazy and I tend to keep my bikes to about £1000 each. I love them all. Gave one away recently and am still missing it
The lady mug is a very important tool in the tea making process, gotta know when the water is hot. Not gonna stick my finger in it to find out
